What is muchoviento.net?
Muchoviento.net is a wind forecast portal for kite and windsurfers. We provide high quality wind forecasts for many surf locations in Europe.
What does the term "regional weather model" mean?
With this term we refer to our highly sophisticated approach of applying state-of-the-art weather models to small, focused geographic regions. Since our focus is quality, the regions we choose are small and the model is set up to run with a very high grid size resolution. This configuration directly translates into great forecasts: orographic and thermal effects can be modeled as well, making a real difference compared to the results of our competitors.
I really like muchoviento.net and would like to link to your site. Is this allowed?
Yes! We really appreciate inbound links. If you like a graphical banner of muchoviento you can find them in several sizes here for download.
Can I link directly to a specific forecast?
Yes! For the regional weather model forecasts the direct link is given in the upper right header of the forecast. Just copy and paste it.
When are the forecasts updated?
All forecasts are updated every six hours: The GFS forecasts are updated at 5:20, 11:20, 17:20 and 23:20 GMT (=UTC).
The update cycles for the regional weather models are provided in the header of each forecast.
My home spot is not listed. What can I do?
Donīt panic! Instead write to firstname.lastname@example.org for help. Besides the name of the spot we need the exact geographic location. Determining this is quite easy with freely available tools like Google Earth.
We thank everyone for submitting spots so far!
